Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G) is an Indigenous owned and youth-led, non-profit organization focused on cultural support and empowerment programs/policies for Indigenous youth while being led by traditional knowledge and Elder guidance.

They have a wide range of initiatives including providing mental health supports, running a marketplace for Indigenous artists, working towards language revitalization, research, and report writing – just to list a few. We are so thrilled to contribute a portion of all vendor fees and every purchase to their initiatives!

Causeway was founded in 1977 with a mission to assist people with mental health issues find employment. Over 40 years, we have expanded our activities and our impact to meet the needs of a broader spectrum of people. We are constantly looking for new ways to innovate. This is the approach that truly sets us apart. It allows us to transform lives and change communities by piloting new community ventures and leading the way in the area of social enterprise.

FSIS is a valuable community partner of the Willow’s Drop-in Program. Willow’s is a Vanier-based low-barrier service that provides basic needs (clothing, food, hygiene, menstrual supplies), harm reduction supplies, (safer sex, injection, inhalation and overdose reversal), peer support, access to a nurse, safe(r) space, and much more. Willow’s is open for women and gender nonconforming people, ages 16+ who trade and sell sex, use substances, and/or who are experiencing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Willow’s is a partnership between FSIS, the Métis Nation of Ontario, Ottawa Public Health, and Somerset West Community Health Centre.

HIV testing is an important part of maintaining your health and wellness, and it plays a crucial role in HIV prevention. Sometimes getting tested can be challenging; it means taking time out of your busy schedule to go to the clinic, waiting at the doctor’s office, waiting weeks for results. We want to help make knowing your status as easy as possible! You can now order a free HIV self-testing kit which includes an at-home HIV self-test that yields your result in 60 seconds. This means you can test yourself when you are ready, where you want, and with whom you want. Regardless of your result, you will be informed of health resources and services available to you in our community.

Highjinx is a safe house like your Auntie’s. Lonely folks, those in a wee bit of trouble, those needing bus fare home, someone struggling to stay sober, a Neighbour grieving, a parent at the end of their rope, the ill and the mentally ill are all welcome and helped in whatever way they need, on their terms and where they are at. Without prejudice. Our Neighbours tell us they feel like they belong, like they fit in and that they are comfortable here. And that in itself is why it is so important. We work at abolishing the line between Us and Them and teach that we are all in this together. It is a space for people to meet and help each other by sharing stories and time. This place is magic. highjinx is a constant place of refuge and solace as well as absolute antics and frivolity.

Our Wednesday outreach program begins in the evening and operates late into the night when most services are closed. By meeting people where they are at, we are helping to eliminate accessibility barriers to access life’s most basic necessities.

#moringaottawa showcases intimate stories through music, instrument, spoken word, live arts, acting and comedy. We aim to be a hub of creativity from and for our Black visionaries, creatives and more in the national capital region. This project is our community’s resolve to insert the stories and individual identities of Black canadians in the capital of Canada, a city where the erasure of Blackness has left us disjointed, disconnected and demotivated.

MORiNGA ottawa is rejuvenating space for Black kinfolx of ottawa. This is a platform to experience intimate stories that our local creators have manifested through mixed arts, music, instrument, spoken word, acting, and comedy +. We aim to be a source of healing and solidarity for all the visionaries and dreamers across the Black Communities of the NCR and beyond.

SAEFTY Ottawa was founded in the fall of 2017 by a group of trans and gender diverse youth in Ottawa, many of whom are still SAEFTY facilitators today. We were frustrated by the lack of spaces available to us that were organized and facilitated by other trans and gender diverse people – rather than cis adults. We also wanted a space where we could meet and connect with older trans youth and adults and where younger trans kids could find each other and meet older youth and adults who they could relate to.

We knew that other trans youth in Ottawa were feeling frustrated by the same things – many of us just wanted a place to connect, hang out, and make friends, so that’s exactly what we decided to create.

With the advice and support of trans adults and experienced community organizers, and generous donations from our communities, we invited our friends to join us and began hosting drop in events in parks and community centres.

We are entirely run by and for trans and gender diverse youth, and funded entirely by donations. This means that the only people we are accountable to is you – our community. Our most important goal at SAEFTY is to meet the needs of our communities, and we are always looking to find out more about how we can support trans and gender diverse children, youth and families in Ottawa.

At our core, we aim to remind survivors of their intrinsic worth and the power they are reclaiming in their decision to leave an abusive relationship. At the end of the day, our story is made up of many stories, starting with those of survivors. Shelter Movers of Ottawa was established in October 2017. Our growing team of dedicated volunteers helps to ensure we have an immediate and lasting impact on survivors in the community.

Our mission is to improve shows and the maker community by removing barriers that Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) and Queer and Trans (QT) makers, artists, and creators face, especially when it comes to participating in craft and vendor shows. We Recognize The inherent presence of racism and white supremacy within our society that is pervasive, harmful, and omnipresent. The impact that privilege has across society, including within the maker and vendor community. That privilege manifests itself in various ways, including ease of access to markets, materials, and networks for launching a business. That we are working with the goal of helping to ease some of the barriers for Black, indigenous, and people of colour and transgender and LGBTQ2+ individuals who wish to enter into this space.

While social distancing measures are in place, many of our programs are still taking place virtually. Up-to-date events and workshops are advertised on social media @tenoaksproject.

To enhance the quality of life for Indigenous people in the Capital Region. To maintain a tradition of community, an ethic of self-help and development as well as to provide traditional teachings from our elders.

These are important values ​​we will continue to reinforce and promote in the coming years. The Odawa Native Friendship Center is a non-profit organization serving the Indigenous community in the Ottawa-Carleton Region of Eastern Ontario and the surrounding communities. The Odawa Native Friendship Center opened its doors to the community in August 1975. The Indigenous population has grown in the Ottawa community and we have expanded our services to meet their needs. We are an organization that offers various programs and services to people of all ages and where “Everyone Is Welcome”. For over three decades now, Odawa’s volunteers, Board of Directors, committee members, and staff have worked diligently to ensure that we positively affect the quality of life for Indigenous people in the Capital Region. A tradition of community, ethnic self-help, and development, as well as traditional teachings from our elders, are important values, which we will continue to reinforce in the coming years.

The Young Womyn Project is a specialized program within The Sexual Support Centre of Ottawa. SASC is a registered charity with a 37-year history of providing support, counselling, education and advocacy on issues of GBV within the Ottawa region.

The YWP recognizes that marginalized young womyn face many barriers to accessing support and often face violence due to criminalization, discrimination and lack of social services and sense of belonging. We seek to provide flexible and accessible services which are 100% self-referred and survivor-directed.

All our services are free and confidential.

Some areas we offer support in may include, but are not limited to: healing from sexual violence, recognizing abuse and its effects, supporting healthy relationships, effects of family violence, coping mechanisms, communication and assertiveness.
